Event History

Japan Expo Sud was founded in 2009 as 'Chibi Japan Expo Sud' to meet the demand from visitors in the south of France who found it difficult to travel to the main Japan Expo in Paris. The first edition attracted 23,715 visitors. Over the years, the festival has grown significantly, with attendance reaching nearly 50,000 visitors by 2015. The event has consistently expanded its program, inviting more diverse guests, including mangakas, anime directors, voice actors, musicians, and web creators, and incorporating a wider range of activities, workshops, and exhibitions. The 2025 edition celebrates its 15th anniversary. [5, 7, 14]
